Agree. Beach volleyball was also one of my favorite events to watch. I say you defintely needed a strong heart to watch the two beach volleyball finals. Two U.S. teams swept the gold for both the men's and the women's. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beach_volleyball The controversy hit a new high at the 2004 Olympics, when a DJ played music clips between sets while female dancers in orange bikinis performed for the crowds. In the 2008 Olympics, short music clips were also played at the end of each point. Accusations arose that the sport was less respectful than other Olympic events, with some columnists comparing it to a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue spread rather than pure athleticism.[5] Some conservative cultures express moral objections. At the 2006 Asian Games in Qatar only one Muslim country, Iraq, fielded a women's beach volleyball team.[6] At the 2007 South Pacific Games, held in Samoa, rules were adjusted to require less revealing shorts and cropped sports tops.[7] I wonder whose cockamamie idea it was for all that ruckus getting generated between plays? It reminded me of all the background noise they added to many of the old recordings of 老相声 in those video clips that could be found on YouTube - so annoying. I doubt the on again, off again "music" blaring over Chao Yang Park had gone over too well with the typically conservative Chinese audience either. BTW, over here NBC didn't show any closeup shots of the "Beach Volleyball Dancers" during the competition, although the dancers did get invited to make an appearance on the Today Show the day after the competition ended. http://www.theasianeconomist.com/beach-volleyball-dancers-in-beijing-2008-and-lebron-james/

I was wondering if I somehow missed the men's volleyball final between the U.S. and Brazil - the match I was really looking forward to watching. The U.S. men's volleyball team had to fight tooth and nail for every point in the quarterfinal and semifinal - What a team! It's actually scheduled for tonight's prime-time coverage. That's a relief! http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/news?slug=ap-lookahead&prov=ap&type=lgns And McCutcheon hopes NBC will show all his team’s final game. The men have not figured as prominently in prime-time U.S. television coverage as some other events. “This team represents what’s good about team sports—the sum of our hearts is much greater than the individual aspects of this team,” he said. “A bunch of guys playing selflessly—a lot of unity and a lot of strength.”
