Despite the strong headwinds we faced throughout most of the year, Passive Safety has finished with our strongest year ever in terms of new order intake. This shows that our customers have continued trust in what we are doing and we are seeing this across all our divisions. All around, a great job!
In terms of profitability, we also had a strong year and in line with expectations.
All divisions have stepped up and I think here we can also look back on 201x with confidence.
North America has done a really good job preparing for the wave of new business that began launching toward the end of the year and South America has put in a great effort to break even and close the gap they were facing. In Europe, AEU-xxxx is beginning to gain traction and the region met all their financial goals for the year.
An area where we had high ambitions but didn’t meet our expectations for the year is in non-quality costs. Although we made improvements, we fell short of our goals here but I’m confident we have the plans in place to make quality and non-quality costs a key part of our journey moving forward.
The way forward for Passive Safety in 201x is to continue full-steam ahead with our winning formula regardless if we are a stand-alone business or part of a larger Autoxxx. Passive Safety has a very successful history and strong position in the market and we will secure this for the future by becoming like a Swiss clock in our daily business. That is, we must be reliable, on time and trustworthy under all conditions and why I will continue to put QDC (Quality, Delivery and Cost) and flawless launches at the heart of our daily operations.
Another key element of our success will be continuing to stay ahead of our competitors and drive innovation and technology in the passive safety industry Our customers are clearly pushing toward electric and autonomous vehicles and research suggests that our products will be necessary through at least 2040. Again, I am very confident that there is great opportunity in front of us.
To get to where we want to be, it’s going to require us to focus as one team and I’m excited at the potential of the updated APS (Autoxxx Production System). This will connect our tools with our performance and drive us toward continuous improvement. I would just like to close by thanking you again for your ongoing support and hard work every day. There were many attempts to develop a non-invasive glucose monitoring device over the last two decades [84-86]. NI methods used for glucose determination can fall into two categories. The first is based on the measurement of glucose using one or more of its intrinsic molecular properties, such as Raman shifts. These methods assume the ability to detect glucose in tissue or blood independently of other body components or physiological state. The second category measures the effects of glucose on the physical properties of blood and tissue. This category is based on an assumption that glucose is a dominant (highly fluctuating) blood analyses and, as such, contributes significantly to the change in the relevant physical parameters of the tissue. Hence, measurement of such parameters can lead indirectly to evaluation of the blood glucose(BG)level.
The desire to develop a non-i invasive blood glucose monitor came initially from Integrity co-founder, late Dr. David Freger. David had diabetes and like many who suffer from this lifelong debilitating disease, David was sick and tired of pricking his fingers to draw blood for glucose measurements a few times each day. Together with two of his trusted colleagues, Avner Gal and David Malka, they set out to develop a non-invasive blood glucose monior that could provide pain-free measurements.
