Spanish to English Marketing Food & Drink international exhibition
I have already had to translate "servicio de restauración", which covers the general catering facilities (cafés, restaurants, fast food, refreshment stalls, etc.) but I now have to translate 'catering'. I know this is used in Spanish to describe the service where caterers come in so party or event organisers don't have to become involved in meal preparation, serving and clearing up, but how can I differentiate in English?

Thanks for your interest, TT! Actually, the term "catering facilities" really does only cover the different kinds of restaurants. The coffee-shop/refreshment-stall etc. section comes under a different heading. I grouped them together in my explanation in order to show possible answerers that they weren't included under the (Spanish) 'catering' heading. Sorry to have misled you. Thanks for your conscientiousness!

Clare, maybe you should ask an English-English question for one term that would include coffee shops, restaurants, fast food, etc. - I just can't think of one right now... It would probably be best to change "catering facilities"..

catering facilities vs. catering services (or caterers)

I would probably try to think of a different term for ***catering facilities*** because when you say "fast food" or *refreshment stand* I don't actually think this is correct. Catering facilites are usually restaurants or hotels that provide their facilities for catered events.

According to the dictionary a fitting translation is: abastecimiento de comidas por encargado, however catering is also used and acceptable.
