French to English Medical Medical (general)
A term relating to the process of admissions and discharges in hospitals. A believe it is to do with transfers of patients. Sorry, no further context. It occurs as an isolated field in a software interface.

"Notice of Transfer" sounds right given what little context exists. Whether that is what is said, I don't know.

If Phil's right, then I would definitely say "Notice of Transfer". I thought it was a sign posted in an area where there is a lot of movement between patients being taken from one place to another and visitors, etc.

Comment I believe that this is simply as you initially thought: notice of transfer (to another hospital, I'd imagine).

I don't think it's anything to do with signs. It's simply a piece of information on a computer system stating that a patient has been moved from one place to another.

Howard, If I were in a British hospital and saw a sign stating "Movement", I simply would have absolutely no idea what it meant and I would find it rather ridiculous. It could also be called "Area of traffic" (NOT "Traffic area"), but, even so, it sounds extremely odd. I used "transfer" for I could image the scene after working in a very busy public hospital and seeing visitors dodging beds on which patients were being transferred from one area to another (it happened to me back in July when I went through an operation). Even if it's where patients are admitted and discharged, what would you prefer: "Busy Area"?

I don't think this has anything to do with "advice" at all. I also think it's an area where patients are admitted, discharged or transferred, but I definitely think "avis" is "notice" or even "warning" (which I think is a bit strong here).

I agree with you re: "notice", but I'm not sure about "transfer area." Perhaps movement notice is a reasonable generic compromise. Thanks!
