Röntgen Thorax p.a.

Medical (general)
discharge report
This is the header before the doctor describes the chest X-ray. This X-ray was performed a few weeks after an original chest X-ray, so I am wondering if this isn't some abbreviation for "control" chest X-ray, but I really don't know what p.a. could be.

AP and lateral chest X-ray
This is common usage in English. In German they sometimes say "in zwei Ebenen" but we would not translate that into "in two planes"; "AP and lateral" indicates that there are images in two planes.
