Specified person

Englisch > Deutsch Rechts- und Patentwesen Urkunden, Diplome, Zeugnisse, Lebensläufe English wedding certificate
Hello,

I'd be grateful for suggestions on how to translate 'Signature of the specified person...' on an (post May 2021 wedding ceremony reform) English wedding certificate into German.

The specified person seems to be an official role though I can find very little about it. I think it might be the same as the 'authorised person' https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/...
but I'm not sure.

The full sentence is 'Signature of the specified person and the person before whom the marriage was solemnized'

I don't think Standesbeamte is correct here (although in this particular case the specified person also happens to be the registrar). Any suggestions gratefully received.

Thank you

Julie

Some definitions

a wedding in a registered place of worship (RPOW) must include certain prescribed words and be conducted in the presence of either a registrar or authorised person109

Note 109 - An authorised person is appointed by the trustees or governing body of the registered place of worship, who are required to 'certify the name and address of the person so authorised to the Registrar General and to the superintendent registrar of the registration district in which the building is situated'

As with the marriage document, once the ceremony has taken place the schedule will be signed by the couple and their witnesses, together with the person by or before whom the marriage was solemnised and, if different, what is now termed the ‘specified person’.111 The latter is the person who, prior to the introduction of the schedule system, would be described as having a duty to register the marriage. Who has this responsibility again depends on the form of the wedding:
• for a civil wedding, it is the registrar;
• for a Quaker wedding, it is an officer of the Society of Friends;112
• for a Jewish wedding, it is the secretary of the synagogue of which one or both of the parties is a member;113
• for a wedding in a registered place of worship, it is either the authorised person appointed for that place of worship (or another place of worship in the same registration district) or, if none has been appointed or is present, a registrar.114

Note 111 - The ‘specified person’ is the person who, prior to the introduction of the schedule system, would be described as having a duty to register the marriage: Marriage Act 1949, s 53C(8). [see p. 37]

The clergyman will be responsible for returning the marriage document to the registrar and the specified person (as defined in new section 53C(8), inserted by regulation 7) will be responsible for returning the marriage schedule, except in respect of a marriage schedule where the marriage was solemnized by a registrar.
