Hi Joanne, I think PET tracers are simply designed to bind to/be taken up by specific marker molecules whose expression is increased in a particular pathology. This gives an increased signal.

@Sue, @Liz, Thanks for your suggestions! I usually translate "hyperfixation" by "increased uptake," but this is usually in a region as is "hyperfixation thyroidienne" but it seemed strange to associate it with "lesion" or "lymphadenopathy"....
