Norwegian term

maurverk

Norwegian to English Medical Medical (general) Norwegian medical pain scale
Hei!

The passage I'm translating lists this word as a means of describing nerve pain in the shoulder radiating down the patient's arm. Has anyone heard of this term, or could it simply be a typo? Other terms are listed, such as "brenning", "støt", "murring" ..

Grateful for any pointers!

Mvh
Alison.

maurkrypninger Ah! That makes sense! I have found a term 'formication', it sounds like that would fit here.

formication

maursyre : formic or methanoic acid.

Formication as per the first Discussion Entry and, alas as a typo itelf, predictably by our 'shock-feigning' inhouse Central London Translation Office audio-typists from Essex Thames Estuary, very close to another word that would raise eyebrows.
Example sentence:

murrende (giktlignende) smerte | jf. hodeverk, ryggverk, tannverk EKSEMPEL ha verk i hodet, ryggen, tennene

Formication is the sensation resembling that of small insects crawling on (or under) the skin, in the absence of actual insects.
