A token alternative answer and, funnily enough, is 'already in the ProZ Glossaries' - albeit in a geological outcrop guise. Note that excrescence is not the same as 'excretion'.
As picked up on in the Discussion Entries, it doesn't agree with 'protrusione' in the singular, so must be acting as a noun aka substantive.
Also does pluralis/ze well, as in the second example sentence.
