Dutch term

uitportering/inportering

Dutch to English Tech/Engineering Telecom(munications) number portability
The process of transferring mobile phone numbers between providers (number portability) is done in 2 phases: "uitportering" (from the donor/source provider) to the target provider (inportering).
Is this called "outporting" and "inporting"? or is there another term for that??

porting out/porting ing

Reference 1:
mobile number porting

Also Known As: Port; Porting; Mobile Number Portability; port out; port in; MNT; transfer; mobile number transfer; MNP

Definition: The transfer of a mobile service number from one mobile service provider to another as defined by the Telecommunications Numbering Plan 1997, including transfers to other service providers for the same network.

Reference 2:
Q. What is local number portability?

A. Starting November 24, local number portability allows you to take your phone number with you when switching phone companies within a local area. So, if you've decided that Virgin Mobile is your wireless service provider of choice, you get to keep your existing phone number AND enjoy a contract-free life with us.

The industry geeks refer to this new option as "porting in" or "porting out." What do these terms mean to everyone else? Porting-in means bringing your phone number to a new phone company and porting-out means taking your phone number from your existing phone company.
