composants non élastiques

Peer comment(s):

neutral Tony M : In the sense used here, 'yielding' is broader than just elastic; it's also not the term used in the actual standard referred to.

éléments en état (rigide) constant

ISO 1940-1:2003
Vibrations mécaniques -- Exigences en matière de qualité dans l'équilibrage pour les rotors en état (rigide) constant -- Partie 1: Spécifications et vérification des tolérances d'équilibrage

It's easy enough to find the official translations of international standards— albeit usually only the titles.

In this case, ISO 1940 talks about 'rotors', not the 'components' of your source text; it's obviously only based on the standard, but I think the 'non-yielding' part is valid.

I have to say that I am mightily surprised by the ISO translation given — but it is a respected international standards organization and usually has good translations (its standards are almost invariably bi-lingual EN/FR).

Asker: "Adjustments shall be made according to assessment criteria for the Precision of Balancing Rotating Non-Yielding Components" — this is the official terminology from the standard being quoted in Asker's text.
