autoritatea pentru problemele consumatorului şi reglementare
- autoritate, dacă vrei să semene cu instituţia română analoagă. Dacă nu, poţi lăsa "departament";
- n-aş include protecţia în denumire pentru că acest departament are atribuţii mult mai largi, incluzând şi un oficiu pentru protecţia consumatorului (vezi linkul dat de Alex);
- reglementarea include controlul, ar fi deci redundant "reglementare şi control"

La noi, se numeşte Autoritatea Nationala pentru Protectia Consumatorilor, dar pare să aibă atribuţii mai restrânse decât instituţia americană.

: Inteleg, dar reglementarea si controlul nu se exclud reciproc, este o sintagma utilizata si in legislatia noastra. Cat despre protectie, "protection" e chiar in definitia institutiei, vad (protects the interests of consumers by...). Parerea mea! :)

N-am spus că se exclud reciproc! "Protection" este în definiţie dar nu în denumire. Oricum, am încercat să ofer o variantă cât mai scurtă şi cât mai apropiată de denumirea originală.
