Nella codifica dell’impianto SOS si è cercato di mantenere una struttura che ne rispecchia il principio funzionale. Esiste quindi una parte sistema, dove trovano la loro collocazione le entità generali o simili agli altri impianti, una parte periferia, dove sono inserite le entità relative ad armadi e colonnine, ed infine una parte centrale che si occupa dello switching delle chiamate e dell’interfaccia verso i sistemi informativi.
