This comment came as a response to what respondents liked most about some ads for beer. The ads show a bottle or glass of beer in different nighttime scenes, and in one of them, a bridge comes out of the glass. I don't understand that first line at all.

at first, I didn't understand where it was headed.

This is a play on words. Beer is not only a thirst-quencher but it's also an alcoholic beverage that can get to your head. By the same token, a bridge can take you from point A and it will be headed to point B.
"de lo que podía ir" is the clue to the commercial that shows the bridge stemming out of the glass. Anything short of that will kill the commercial because it will ignore the entire point and the bridge will not mean anything at all. I hope I made my point. :0)
