Billable income for work performed was double Feb 1, 2011

While last year I received a big bunch of money for work done in December 2009, the work actually done in January did not generate much billable income.

In terms of billable income, January 2011 was more than double, but I don't have the money yet.

Well up Feb 1, 2011

I just checked my figures and my earnings for this January were up over 50 % on last year. But, as Muriel so rightly says, I don't have the money yet.

The same or lower a little. Feb 1, 2011

I usually receive project from a specified client beginning of year.
In the middle of last month, I refused big project because I was waiting for another big project at that time. But this time I was canceled the job I expected.
However I could take exercises in the gym more than usual.
It was good for my health.
Good luck in our new job this month!

A huge job came to an end in January, and is invoiced accordingly. Money-wise it was therefore a good month, but work-wise, I did not translate a single word between January 13 and 27...

Other way round Feb 1, 2011

... but only because I took a week's skiing holiday at the beginning of the month, then had to take my son back to university when we got back, so didn't actually get down to any work until January 12th! We normally ski later in the year, so it will all balance itself out in the end.

In memoriam
I can't tell Feb 1, 2011

The last year was insane, especially the last quarter, and we broke all records. I spent January in a catatonic state, accepting only very small and very smooth jobs, declining anything that looks remotely like real work...

I just started working full time as a freelance translator in October 2010, so I can not compare. I completed few small jobs in January 2010, but most of the time I was working for my employer.

Jan 2010 more profitable Feb 1, 2011

January 2011 was a bit slower than January 2010. Still met my target, but was about 1000 EUR less than January 2010. Because so many German companies are not fully up and running after the Christmas break (so many people still out on vacation), January is by nature a slower month in general. I had a couple of record-setting months in 2010 and have not noticed anything in terms of slower business since becoming a freelance translator in 2005.

Roughly the same Feb 1, 2011

I was extremely busy in January 2010 as well as in January 2011 so there is no great difference between the two. I could have made more this January though, but I actually had to turn down a few job offers because I was already working over capacity.

January 2010 was exceptionally good! Feb 1, 2011

In January 2011, I invoiced circa 30% less than last year (more or less the same as in 2009...).

about the same Feb 1, 2011

I seem to remember January last year being a bit slow for the first half. It was the same this year. Things picked up in the second half of the month and I got a very big project from a new client. However I have noticed that January tends to be a slower month, especially right after the new year.

Roughly the same Feb 1, 2011

i.e. more or less as much as I can handle and still have a life. Had a few sick days early this month though.
