Hello, everyone!

Translators all over the world are cordially invited to participate in the “Transn Translates True Traditional Trade Treasure of China’s Time-honored Brands”, a high-profile campaign for public benefits in preparation for the Beijing Olympics jointly sponsored by, among others, the Science & Technology Translators Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Transn Information Technology Co., Ltd.

The tenet of this campaign: what is unique to a nation also belongs to the world. The aim of the campaign is to present China’s time-honored brands to the world to promote a global understanding of the essence of the Chinese culture.

The campaign of “Transn Translates Traditional Brands” aims to help our friends both at home and abroad to understand better the deep-rooted historical and cultural characteristics of these time-honored brands in Beijing by launching a global campaign to translate the corporate philosophy, concept, and motto of these centuries-old enterprises as well as by attracting an extensive and lasting interest from domestic and foreign media.

The campaign covers these target languages: English, French, Russian, Spanish, German, Japanese, and Korean.

Prizes: a prize of excellence will be issued for every item of the corporate philosophy, concept, and motto of these centuries-old enterprises translated in each of the target languages. The winner will receive a certificate of honor jointly issued by the Science & Technology Translators Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Traditional Brands Association, Transn Information Technology Co., Ltd., and the enterprises bearing the related brands. The enterprises will also offer special souvenirs to the corresponding winners.

Deadline: September 25, 2007

Review period: September 25 - 29, 2007

Prize announcement: starting from September 30, 2007, the winners list will be released jointly on the websites of the Science & Technology Translators Association of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing Traditional Brands Association, Transn Information Technology Co., Ltd., as well as on SOHU and YAHOO websites.

Awarding date: a grand awarding ceremony will be held on September 30, 2007, the International Translation Day.

Special note: the campaign being an activity for public benefits, all the expenses, including those for the press conference and the awarding ceremony, are borne by the organizers. Participating enterprises and individual translators do not need to make any payment whatsoever.
