Court interpreters in Japan are faced with difficulties almost everyday, and many of the issues have nothing to do with the linguistic aspect of the job. Poor pay, lack of quality control (lack of certification system), subpar working environment are just a few of the things that require improvement. This session will discuss the current state of the profession and ideas the court interpreters have to fundamentally change the profession for the better.
