With Steve I haven't got a clue how this can be translated in a way that makes sense to readers of the target text. One of our jobs as translators is to make sure that the reader doesn't trip over the text. If it's part of a glossary, I'd leave it out. The last thing you want is for the reader to wonder what on earth you're talking about.

Hmmm Since the sentence is apparently a comment on the use (in German) of the word "Quellenlage", finding a viable translation may be trickier than it looks.
