The best known of these schemes is Network Admission Control (NAC) from Cisco Systems, but similar solutions exist from vendors such as Microsoft, Enterasys Networks, Alcatel, Foundry Networks, Extreme Networks, and Vernier Networks. Note that all these solutions use proprietary mechanisms on top of 802.1x to communicate the security state of the endpoint. Fledgling standardization efforts for host policy enforcement are under way from the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), but at this point it's every vendor for itself.
