Italian term

reso glamour nazionale

Italian to English Art/Literary Architecture photography exhibition on Berlin
I have a series of passages translated from the German into the Italian and am having great difficulty in finding official translations in English and, therefore, am having to translate them myself...

This is one by Ulrich Beck from “Risiko Stadt – Architektur in der reflexiven Moderne”, in Ullrich Schwarz, Risiko Stadt? Perspektiven der Urbanität, Hamburg, Junius Verlag, 1995, pp. 49-50.

''Il vacuum pietrificato di Berlino alla fine del conflitto fra oriente e occidente […] ora deve esser riempito dalle finzioni dell’architettura da capitale, deve essere reso glamour nazionale''

should be a showcase for the nation

The idea being that this yet-unrestored and vacant zone should present the best of architecture worthy of the capital city.

"Glamo(u)r" is clearly a false friend in this case.

You can render "reso" literally as well: should be made / should become -- but this may be unnecessary in EN.

endowed with a national glamour

Berlin's petrified vacuum at the end of the conflict between east and west... must now be filled by the pretense of capital city architecture; it must be made nationally glamorous.

In the sense that Berlin's architecture was a bit stalled at the time of unification, and there was a rush to build it up to make it look like the capital city it hadn't been for 50-60 years, but which Germany now felt it deserved (Bonn having always felt temporary and as a result, make-shift).

You could also say " it must be made nationally glamourous."

it must become our national pride (and joy)

we must make ot into something we can be proud of as a nation
something we can show off
etc.

I don't think the word glamour is appropriate here
