your text is looking real technical, so might as well use the technical terms in English, although (not being a medical translator) I have never seen the word invaginate in my life. However, if you search invaginate and hair there are many technical texts that use these terms

"Invaginate" or "invagination" is the technical term, but may not be understood by a lay audience. A more general term is "inpouching". I have a feeling, though, that the verb – cells or a plaque "pouching in" – is not really common, hence, you might have to reconstruct your sentence if you wish to use this option.
