Italian term

Altezza del pavimento dal p.d.f. in o.d.m.

Italian to English Tech/Engineering Transport / Transportation / Shipping
This is in a technical description on new trains being supplied to meet European specifications. I'm not sure what either of these acronyms mean...

Altezza massima in o.d.m dal p.d.f.
5600 mm
Altezza del pavimento dal p.d.f. in o.d.m.
1200 mm
....
When discussing what the noise level should be from the outside:
(*) Valori riferiti a 25 m dal centro del binario e 3,5 m dal p.d.f.

and here is what o.d.m. means = ordine di marcia (condizione del convoglio pronto a partire) www.fcu.it/bandi/automotrici/capitolato tecnico.doc (there's also some other useful terminology there)

I think Rachel is right - p.d.f. is piano di ferro or piano di rotolamento - http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piano_del_ferro, e.g. when calculating railway platform height it the p.d.f. is considered the "zero point" HTH
