American Philological Studies
Dziękuję. Zastanawiam się też nad "American studies in philology". |

: "philology" is not used in Anglo-Saxon cultures as a name of a subject of studies.

Hanna Burdon
: Although I wouldn't dismiss the word "philology" altogether. True, it is rare in the English-speaking world, but that's because their courses tend to focus on language and/or literature. Our "filologie" are much more theoretical.

There are indeed differences and I've had a few long conversations about this with Poles in the past :). My concern is that putting "philology" down on an English CV can give the impression of having studied something very obscure and impractical. Thanks

Lota
: "studies" imply theoretical things, by all means, Hanna. The problem is that in Anglo-Saxon cultures "philology" is not used as a name of a subject/area of one's studies.
