I can see clearly after my cataracts surgery (both eyes) in January/February this year. | | | Metin Demirel Türkiye Local time: 06:23 Member (2018) Italian to Turkish + ... not seriously | Oct 1, 2022 |
Last year I had to see an ophthalmologist and I was prescribed eyeglasses, which I believe is called reading glasses. I was one of those people who can read a small sign at the far end of the street. Now I can't read simple things comfortably without the glasses. I don't want to be dependent on them so I use them only when I work.
I am visually impaired without glasses (-10), but I take care not to lose them

I was until I had LASIK surgery at the end of last year. I am still amazed by how clearly I can see now, better than I ever did with glasses or contact lenses, already when I just open my eyes in the morning. | | | expressisverbis Portugal Local time: 04:23 Member (2015) English to Portuguese + ... In addition to other "hyper" conditions, I have hypermetropia, also known as far-sightedness, I can see clearly distant objects, but near objects appear blurred. At my age I feel that my eyesight is not what it used to be. My new lenses were prescribed last year, and I always try to have annual appointments with my ophthalmologist. The only and most important thing we can do is to take care of our eyes!

[Edited at 2022-10-01 16:11 GMT] I have serious problems at my back at the moment, regarding my eyes I can quote Metin above I learned how to live with my back pain (two slipped discs): before my fingers hit the keyboard I always do a few finger and breathing exercises, I prefer my desktop to my laptop, my screen is placed at the correct height, I bought a good ergonomic chair, I sit up-right all the way back supported by a Orthia pillow (http://www.orthia.eu/en/products/support-pillows/) with both feet flat on the floor, I stretch at regular intervals (at least every hour). I am also surely, though slowly, losing weight… | | | neilmac Spain Local time: 05:23 Spanish to English + ...
Not when I'm wearing my specs! I've used glasses for reading for about twenty years now, but otherwise my overall vision is pretty good. | | | expressisverbis Portugal Local time: 04:23 Member (2015) English to Portuguese + ...

I follow Teresa’s advice for lumbar support pillow (I use McKenzie method roll, the soft one is much better). One thing that is overlooked is a quality foot rest which will release pressure off your lumbar area, eg: https://www.amazon.com/Foot-Rest-Under-Desk-Footstool/dp/B07PGLBCFG This one’s important as well.

Since my cataract surgery, I have 20/30 vision. At the Department of Vehicles they commented that often see older people with better eyesight than the the younger ones. Not as good luck with my back. I have lost 5 inches in height due to increasing curvature of the spine and have 3 pinched nerves. They bother me at night, but not in the daytime. I have raised the position of my mouse by 12 feet. I don't know it was part of the problem. Beware!

See more Congenital partial optic atrophy (both eyes). One-eyed bandit No spectacles for 20 years or so (they don't help much and there's an unpleasant "after-effect"). I do not suffer from back and neck pain as much as earlier since I purchased a desk with height adjustment (I'd say standing desk, but I mostly sit at it) and a monitor arm (to hold the monitor as close to my eyes as I need it), I highly recommend the former even to people who aren't visually impaired and don't need to bend over the table. It would be also interesting to know how many people use touch typing / hunt and peck typing method. If it was discussed already, please share the link, I would really appreciate it.
