Many of my clients have a Christmas break between Christmas and New Year anyway, to there is no use for me sitting around at my PC.

Not sure yet Nov 8, 2022

Too early to tell. I'll play it by ear, as usual. December, like August, is very much unknown workwise: some years I have almost no work, while others are hectic. So, the only certainty I have for now is that I will not be working on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The rest depends on my mood and on what my clients have in store for me!

At least a few days. In case of any urgent projects, my clients know how to reach me even when my office is officially closed.

I don't work between Christmas and New Year's Day. That includes not reading any email. Time for friends, family, walks, books, hot chocolate and mulled wine.

I'll be skiving off for the rest of today to go and visit a nearby town then have dinner with friends, and I'll be taking time off normal working days here and there for various activities like swimming, taking in art exhibitions etc. and then I'll definitely slow down around Christmas because my children will be coming to stay.
Since I have a huge project that'll keep me busy till mid Jan, I know I can afford to take time off provided I get my daily quota done. I got up early today, so

Much-needed down time Nov 9, 2022

Not planning on taking time off until the second half of December.

I generally tell clients that I'm unavailable between the 20th and 27th of December. Ideally I'd like a little more time, so this year I might push that out a bit to just before New Year. Many of my clients like to hand off work to me before the year-end holidays in Japan, so taking a contiguous chunk from 20th December to, say, 6th January might not be wise.

I always take off for a few days during the American Thanksgiving holiday (4th Thursday in November). I also usually take time off from Christmas Eve until New Year's Day, although if a regular customer has a small request I might work a day or two between the holidays, although never on the 24th or 25th of December. Not being a fan of pugilistics, Boxing Day has no special meaning for me.

No way Nov 9, 2022

I'm basically available 24/7, 365.

I like it when others take time off.

I'm about to fulfil my dream Nov 12, 2022

Tomorrow I'll be flying to South Africa for safari (watching, of course), whales, sharks, Cape of Good Hope, penguins etc. Oh, a whole day tour to 3 wineries:-). Taking back what the pandemic took away from me in 2020. I'm not getting any younger and nothing will stop me this time, even the terrible airplane emissions. After that I'm booked all the way through the New Year and hope to take another week off between the New Year and Russian Orthodox Christmas. Maybe I'll jump to New York for 2-3 days to celebrate my Christmas with my dear friend of 46 years and her family. Colleagues who celebrate Catholic Christmas regardless of faith but mainly because this is the time for kids who grew up in the US to expect their holidays and presents, are very grateful that I'll cover for them. It's too commercial for my taste anyway.Collapse
