I haven’t done any mentoring per se in the last 15 years (though I am always willing to help newbies). When I did it took me usually less than 5% of my time. As I said yesterday, my junior colleagues were professional translators they just needed to learn the EU ropes…

I don't mentor as a translator, because I'm just hoping to get to the point where I can retire without having to find a new job before AI turns this one into something even more soul-destroying than PEMT, and I don't think it's worth anyone's while to train to translate the way I've been doing it.
I do chat with the daughter of friends who has trained to be a translator and is now looking for work, I give her tips here and there and she has found our chats to be very useful.
