Word - Open document explorer maximised

As of late, when I need to open a document in Word I get the open doc explorer maximised and cannot adjust it (with the arrows). I've tried repairing Office. Any other suggestions?

Did you try changing the size of this window? Sep 5, 2012

If this does not help, find the normal.dot and remove it. The old normal.dot file maybe simply renamed instead of removal.

"Double click the dialog title bar to toggle between full page view and windowed view." This was what I was looking for, thanks.
