There is probably nothing to solve here. Mar 10, 2016

Why are these problems not solved? It's not as if this is freeware or even cheapware

This is most likely down to proper preparation of the files for translation. Worth reading this article:

... because this also creates an unsegmented TTX. Checking the opening/closed tags isn't necessarily the answer. In fact sometimes this is the problem as TagEditor can use placeholders, in fact often expects placeholders, where Studio will complete the segmentation in an unsegmented TTX with proper tag pairs. So an unsegmented TTX in the first place may well be your problem.

Better to use Workbench with "segment unknown sentences" checked, or use SDL Legit! instead of TTXit! which will always segment the entire document on the basis of Trados 2007. See this article : http://wp.me/s2xDjK-unclean

I had the same issue. I created a ttx from doc using TagEditor and then translated it in Studio 2017. I could save ttx but then I could not open it in TagEditor and I could not save .doc. So what I did, as Paul suggested, I created a new ttx using SDL Legit! and pretranslated in Studio 2017. This solved my issue. I managed to save both .ttx and .doc.

Thanks Paul!
